14k Diamond and Freshwater Pearl Brooch
One 14k yellow gold (instrument tested "14k"; no trademark) pearl and diamond brooch that weighs 15.96 grams. Featured at the center is a GIA reported (#2225392064) baroque, natural freshwater (Unionidae family) pearl of 13.91 x 11.57 mm (length is not measurable), white body color, good luster, moderately blemished and medium nacre thickness. Embellishing the brooch are five single cut and seventeen round brilliant cut diamonds of E - G color, VS clarity, that weigh approximately 0.005 to 0.06 carat each (1.0 to 2.50 mm) for a total weight of 0.55 carat.
The hand fabricated, cast and assembled brooch secures the pearl in a partial cup at the back and three long "prongs" at the front. Four diamonds are set in open base, four prong crowns. Sixteen of the remaining diamonds are pave set as accents to the three long
"prongs" and the remaining two diamonds are bead set at the base of the stem. The brooch has light miligrain along the diamond rows, two hand engraved leaves, light Florentine and a high polish finish. Condition is very good (Florentine finish is lightly worn); craftsmanship is very good. Replacement would be of like kind.
